Breaking resistors are used especially for stopping the high inertia loads in a faster way. Also braking resistors are used for the loads which have to brake continuously while running. For example, crane hoisting axis, unwinder of winder/unwinder applications. If the system needs braking for long time periods or needs braking continuously while running, relatively resistors with higher duty cycle ratio must be selected.

In case a braking resistor is required by the application, please check that if the drive has an on-board braking chopper or is capable of equipped with an external dynamic braking chopper.
